ABOUT MTU 15

The mission of the Southern Illinois Criminal Justice Training Program, Mobile Team Unit 15, is to provide high quality and
effective training to law enforcement that will assist in serving their communities and improving the quality of life for our citizens.


Dave Rednour – Director
Dave Brings over 20 years of experience in law enforcement including having  served as a Police Officer, Investigator, Warden, and Police Chief, having worked for local agencies in Illinois and in Washington DC. Past positions also include working for federal law enforcement in Bethesda, Maryland and for the Illinois State Police and Illinois Department of Corrections.  Dave is assigned to the MTU 15 Headquarters in Carbondale.

 


Doug Wilson – Assistant Director
Doug has over 24 years of police experience. Doug started his law enforcement career at the Olney Police Department and then worked for the Carbondale Police Department for over 23 years before retiring and coming to work for MTU 15 full time.  Doug is a Firearms Instructor, Use of Force Instructor, EEVOC Instructor, TASER Instructor and has been a supervisor, FTO, and Special Response Team member/ sniper, and has taught for the MTU 15 Part-Time Academy for much of his police career. Doug has a passion for teaching police officers and his goal is to teach police officers to become “Thinker Fighters” Doug will be the primary contact point for agencies located within Training Service Area (TSA) 1.

 


Justin Spencer  – Police Training
Specialist  
Justin brings over 22 years of law enforcement experience to MTU 15.  Justin has served as both a municipal police officer in the metro east area and as a deputy sheriff / sergeant with the White County Sheriff’s Department.  Justin has served as a Police Firearms Instructor since 2004 and has provided in-service training for multiple departments in and around White County while serving in this capacity.  Justin has also served as an Adjunct Instructor in Criminal Justice for Southeastern Illinois College since 2020.  Justin also holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Murray State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana.  Justin will be the primary contact point for agencies located within Training Service Area (TSA) 2.

 


Trevor Honomichi  – Police Training Specialist 
Trevor Honomichl has 30 years of law enforcement experience. Trevor started his career in Mesa, Az in 1993. Trevor was involved in training at both the academy and in-service personnel levels since 1995. Trevor will be the primary contact point for agencies located within Training Service Area (TSA) 3.

 


Kim Cramer – Office Manager
Kim is responsible for bookkeeping, membership dues, and general office administration. Kim has over 20 years of experience in small business administration, reporting, and bookkeeping.

 


Kathy Grendon  – Police Training Assistant

 A girl from Southern Illinois, Kathy Gendron grew up in Cutler and now resides in DuQuoin.  She and her significant other share five children, Landon, Liam, Landry, Laina and Laiklyn.  Kathy is an optimistic and enthusiastic person with over 25 years of sales and customer service experience.  She is the person with an eye to a brighter, better, cleaner future for us all. 

When she isn’t working, you can find her at the baseball field, working out, or spending time with her family.  Kathy is very compassionate, hardworking, knowledgeable, and fun which shows in all her endeavors.   

Mobile Team Unit 15 serves 151 agencies, with over 1,500 individual members, covering the following 27 counties:
