A Mobile Team Training Unit of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board
Southern Illinois Criminal Justice Training Program is a Mobile Team Training Unit of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB). Mobile Team Training Units exist under the authority of Illinois Compiled Statutes, 50 ILCS 705, “Illinois Police Training Act”. The Southern Illinois Criminal Justice Training Program is designated by the ILESTB as Mobile Team Unit 15 (MTU 15).
A Mobile Team In-Service Training Units is defined as “an organization formed by a combination of units of local government to deliver in-service training to local and state law enforcement officers”. The Mobile Team Unit is formed through an intergovernmental agreement and includes the joint participation of from multiple units of local government. MTUs are not-for-profit governmental entities directed and administered by an Advisory Board composed of local elected officials, local criminal justice administrators and the Director of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
Mobile Team Unit 15 serves the counties of Alexander, Crawford, Clay, Edward, Effingham, Fayette, Franklin, Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Johnson, Lawrence, Marion, Massac, Perry, Pope, Pulaski, Richland, Saline, Union, Wabash, Wayne, White, Williamson, which includes 151 agencies with some 1570 total members.
